The concept of this app has been positioned as a direct competitor to Elon Musk's Twitter, and many have called it the "Twitter Killer".

This app is not the first time Meta has copied someone else.

Previously, there was a TikTok peel and it was called Reels.

Cloned Snapchat features into Instagram Stories

Or Facebook Audio rooms that also copied Clubhouse.

Elon Musk also called it a "Copycat" several months ago when there were rumors that Meta was going to make an app to compete with Twitter.

Hey, Elon, you used to scold Jeff Bozos, the founder. Amazon.com like this (It's really 😆 called Ranran all over the place).

If you remember, Twitter Blue, a paid monthly membership service, was also copied by Facebook. It is called Meta Verified.

Threads at a glance

  • Use the same login as Instagram.
  • Posts can be 500 characters long.
  • I can't save as a draft yet.
  • I can't send a Direct Message yet.
  • You can post 10 photos.
  • Videos can be 5 minutes long.
  • No hashtag yet.
  • Change the word from Twitter to Retweet to Repost.
  • Algoirthm shows the feed page, it's still unclear where it came from, I guess it should be from Facebook, Instagram, which are used here.

The trend of microblogging platforms continues to grow.

Microblogging platform that focuses on short posts, fast, with pictures. This kind of video has become a global trend. Social media from entering this business of many players, which originally, almost had a monopoly on Twitter.

Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey has launched a similar service called "Bluesky", but it is still a beta service.

Threads was created by the same team as Instagram as a companion app. There are some collaborations, such as sharing profiles.

Things that are still different from Twitter, for example, there is no Direct Message (DM) yet, which I don't know if it will be connected to Instagram in the future.

Another goal of the design is to work across platforms and integrate with other systems. It is called "Fediverse" (federated universe of services that uses protocols to communicate with other systems).
